HOW NOT TO PICK A WEB SITE DEVELOPEr

Prior to even opening the front door of our new home brew equipment and winemaking supplies store we knew that in order to be successful we needed an effective web presence.

Our prior contacts led us to choose what we believed to be a good company to develop our new website.  In retrospect we could not have made a worse decision than we did!

Our new web site company (Caveat emptor if you are looking to build a new website using a web development company out of Clear Lake, Iowa!) was contracted to build a site and then to maintain this site.

The building went smoothly enough but I suspect that was only because they didn't have their money yet.  They were then to be paid a monthly fee to maintain the site.

It took phone calls, e-mails, follow-up phone calls, more e-mails and then we usually had to check what was done to make sure it was done right.

Our new web site was hardly off the launch pad and we were looking for a new place to build our second site.

Clear Lake was good at three things:  Cashing checks, making promises and following up with excuses.

Where did we go next?  See the right hand column for our web site success story!

web site success!

Our web site superheroes turned out to be Impact Marketing Technologies out of Waterloo, Iowa!  My son Nick gave me some very good advice when he told me to contact Andy Mullenix (blue suit, second from left) aka The Big Bald Blog at Impact.

Andy and the team at Impact put together our new web site in prompt fashion and it was done very professionally!

And the best part . . . once our site was finished and our final payment had been made . . . Impact did not abandon our site!  Impact (and especially Andy) have done a stellar job of helping fix our errors (we are still learning) and to continually point us toward ways to improve our web site.

Looking for a first class company to work with on a new website?  Contact Andy by clicking on their logo above and either e-mailing or making a call.  You will not be disappointed in the quality of their work or service!
